My favorite young adult author is by far Ellen Hopkins. She writes powerful stories for teens that make n impact in their lives. And she writes on a lot of teen issues that many can relate to.

I'll leave out JK Rowling 'cuz that's a no-brainer. :) Gotta say Rachel Vincent--I just read REAPER today and it made me hugely conscious that I don't have ...Steal yet! I LOVE paranormal worlds grounded in reality like her Soul Screamers series. But I think I have to put Rosemary Clement-Moore's Maggie Quinn books at the top. :)
